I did get a lot of fun food, but I had many more things that just never worked out right. From about 25 potato plants I got a handful of golf ball sized potatoes. You really have to try hard to fail at potatoes in Idaho. Kind of cuts down on their ability to turn. But if you have animals that will eat your stuff, then the fence is a good thing. We have to fence our orchard (7-1/2 feet tall) to keep deer out.
